Bose is known only using paper cone drivers pushed into unusually small boxes, never publishing frequency response specs, and suing Consumer Reports for giving them a bad review. Even though paper is a good material to use for speaker drivers, and plenty of audiophile companies don’t publish specs, the perception is that Bose is overpriced junk. Truth is a little different, Amar Bose was definitely not an evil man, instead one of the world’s great philanthropists, and his company pushed the boundaries of audio more that most people realize.

If you have a satellite speakers or a subwoofer, you can thank Bose for popularizing that form factor. If you enjoy a high quality factory car stereo, you can thank Bose for that as well. Bose was doing research using Dummy heads and figuring out head related transfer functions in the 70’s that laid the ground work for headphone and VR breakthroughs that are happening now.

Send the 3 Bluetooth speakers back to the store, or wherever you got them, then buy a home stereo system that accepts blue tooth signal From your tablet to the stereo , then from the home stereo, you can add a bazillion wireless speakers wherever you want in your house. IF you want to take the speakers with you portable, find a “hub” that will hook via USB or Blue Tooth to the tablet and then you are set. Just a thought, maybe you’re going about this in the wrong direction, maybe you need to re-think the hardware, not the software?

Pretty much, I tried to get away cheap and it’s obvious why no one sells a system like this. I’m finding that the Bluetooth in this tablet isn’t anything like Wifi. If I’m on the other side of my home the signal gets choppy which is just horrible. I’ll probably hang onto these for my boat and dock but for my home I’m going to just go with a SONO’s system. I was just reluctant to spend that amount of money but their audio quaility blows these things away along with the software interface.

Plus those people never even replied back about their app. Refund time, I guess.

Christine Chan 8 Nov Best Answer: You should hook up two Sonos One speakers only if you want to have a stereo surround setup for your entertainment center, or if you want to have Sonos in more than one room in the house. The reason for having multiple Sonos Ones in a single house is if you want to move the music to another room, your house is multiple floors, or if the house is just large.

If you’ve got a car amplifier you’d like to use in your home, there’s one major obstacle to overcome: how to power the amplifier. Wall outlets provide volt AC power, but amplifiers require volt DC power.

In some ways, thick, high-end wire can present MORE of a problem than the conventional skinnier stuff. More on that later. I have experience with standard non-enclosed speakers in the ceiling of my home theater being driven by a W per channel amplifier. Even when the bass management was removing bass below Hz, there was still enough low bass energy to vibrate the ceiling and the sound could be heard in adjacent rooms and even outside quite loud through the attic vents! The vibration made the sound muddy and generally annoying. Building my own back boxes with the very limited space available out of 2×4’s and MDF helped a lot.

They will sound fine at 50dB for background music in a whole house audio system but they are NOT going to sound good in the ceiling for home theater purposes. The best thing you could do before the sheet rock goes up is to build-in some sound proof enclosures in the proper overhead locations – then you could mount any in-wall speaker you want and it would sound MUCH better.

Build the enclosures with a decent amount of volume – a couple of cubic feet if you can as most in-walls are tuned to use the entire space behind the wall as an enclosure.
